For the entrance of the residence located in Alkent Residences, we designed a special abstract sculpture with a fluid and dynamic form, harmonious with the architecture of the space. Positioned directly in front of the stairwell, the sculpture aimed to create a focal point for the entrance area and reinforce the modern, minimalist character of the space. During the design process, form, proportion, and relationship with light were prioritized; the two extending arms of the sculpture were positioned to integrate with the floor lighting elements. The chrome plating surface treatment gave the sculpture a high-gloss, reflective, and premium appearance. As a result, the entrance of Alkent Residences gained a unique art object that gives identity to the space, rather than just an ordinary decorative object. 01 — Custom Designed Abstract Sculpture Concept for Alkent Residences Entrance
The starting point of the project was to transform the stairwell in the residential entrance from just a passage area into a focal point that gives character to the space. Accordingly, an abstract sculpture design consisting of two organic forms approaching each other and opening upwards was developed. The fluidity of the form was conceived to establish a visual dialogue with the glass railings and stair lines in the architecture. During the design phase, various proportion and angle trials were conducted to ensure that the sculpture created a balanced scale relationship with both its platform and the ceiling height. Spherical lighting elements on the floor highlighted the base of the sculpture, completing the composition. As Evista Design Studio, in this process, we prioritized a space-specific design approach, delivering a holistic solution from both an artistic and architectural perspective.
02 — Chrome Plating Surface Treatment and Production Details
The chrome plating technique chosen for the sculpture's surface was applied to give the form a high-gloss and reflective appearance. This surface treatment, by reflecting the light and space around the sculpture, ensured that the form created a different visual effect from every angle. The durable and premium character of chrome plating offers a long-lasting solution for a continuously used and visible area like a residential entrance. During the production process, the perfect symmetry of the form and surface smoothness were achieved with meticulous craftsmanship before plating. As Evista Design Studio, we always position material selection in custom sculpture production to enhance the expression of the form; in this project, chrome plating was the material that best highlighted the abstract and fluid form of the sculpture.
03 — Integration of the Sculpture with Alkent Residences Entrance and Interior Architecture
The sculpture, positioned on the platform under the stairs, creates a strong visual focal point without disrupting the natural flow of the space. The relationship established with the spherical lights on the floor and the glass railing in the background makes the sculpture perceived as an integral part of the architecture. Being the first element encountered at the residential entrance, it creates a strong first impression about the overall character of the space. Thanks to this integrated approach, the sculpture becomes not just a decorative object, but a part of the space's identity.
